A RAPID ROADTRIP - THE WILDS OF ARIZONA

When the Motorcycle speed trials at the Bonneville Salt Flats got cancelled due to bad weather, RAPID Coach and TT Racer Dave Hewson grabbed the opportunity for adventure.

RAPID coach Dave Hewson loves a motorcycling adventure and was heading to the legendary Bonneville Salt Flats to compete in the Motorcycle Speed Trials on a turbo charged Triumph Rocket. Unfortunately the event got rained off, but Dave isn't one for giving up on an opportunity, so he rented a bike in Salt Lake City and headed to Southern Arizona.

Embracing the Rapid mantra 'Dare to go Further', over the next 6 days and 2200 miles, Dave enjoyed spectacular canyon and mountain passes, some very straight American roads and the very best of scenery anywhere in the world, all on a rented Africa Twin.

"I was disappointed not to get the chance to ride at Bonneville, but I wasn't going to sit back and give up when there's so much to see and do across America. I had the choice to go South and visit friends, or head north for some greener pastures. The southern deserts called and I wasn't disappointed. The roads and scenery across Arizona, and especially Utah are fantastic and I'm so glad I chose to get a bike and go exploring. It was daunting  to begin with, heading into the unknown, once the wheels were turning though, it was all positive"
